Who we are

SINCE 1958

We have always loved the sea and feeling in touch with it, and we are great lovers of our land, the Costa Brava. That’s why we want to convey this feeling to the people around us, so we thought, let’s turn our passion into our job.

We are a family business that, since the fifties, offers experiences at sea by cruise trips, tourist tours and maritime activities to customers who want to discover the Costa Brava from a nearer and different point of view. We would like you to share our passion and enthusiasm for this environment.

We will make of the Costa Brava a GREAT EXPERIENCE that will remain in your memories.

European Charter for Sustainable Tourism

Creuers Mare Nostrum is a company that adheres to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.

WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN CHARTER FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM?

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Natural Spaces (ECST) is an initiative of the EUROPARC Federation whose overall objective is to promote the development of sustainable tourism in Europe's protected natural spaces. The ECST is a method and a voluntary commitment to apply the principles of sustainable tourism, aimed at managers of protected natural areas and at businesses in order for them to define their strategies in a participatory manner.

Creuers Mare Nostrum's Environmental Strategy

  • We, Creuers Mare Nostrum, make our living from the sea, therefore we are fully committed to protect the environment in which we operate. Thus, our Environmental Plan includes actions designed to safeguard marine biodiversity, reduce water consumption and manage waste, among other things.

  • We, Creuers Mare Nostrum, were the first maritime passenger transport company to obtain the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in the Natural Park of the Medes Islands, Montgrí and Baix Ter

  • On board, all waste is separated into different categories to be recycled.

  • Our latest boat, built in the most efficient way, with improved hull design, chemical WC. Furthermore, in all boats, the speed reduction, the use of silicone paints that reduce friction, the use of LED technologies, etc. has resulted in a reduction of both the installed power in the new boats and the fuel consumption in the existing ones.

  • Materials and cleaning products used on board: we also focus our effort on reducing and recycling materials and products on board, involving passengers and crew members. All utensils for events or meals on board are made from recycled and biodegradable materials (plates, cutlery, glasses, napkins, ...). All cleaning products are ecological and biodegradable.

  • We have also begun to use renewable energies in our offices: 8 solar panels with 2.5 KW of power have been installed. And the contracted companies are local cooperatives.

  • Moreover, we have an ethic that favours local suppliers; we promote the history, culture and traditions of our town either because of our antiquity or because of the roots that have always bound us to l'Escala, thus collaborating, altruistically, with local events and entities.
